R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, For more than eight decades, the Frisco Garden Club |
|
|
has worked diligently to beautify public spaces and improve quality |
|
|
of life in North Texas; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, One of the oldest institutions of its kind in |
|
|
Frisco, the club was founded in 1932 by a group of women who wished |
|
|
to foster interest in home gardening, encourage civic engagement, |
|
|
and work toward the protection and conservation of native plants, |
|
|
wildflowers, and bird species; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Today, the Frisco Garden Club has grown to include |
|
|
84 active and 4 honorary members who remain committed to the club's |
|
|
motto of "A flower in every garden, joy in every heart"; the |
|
|
organization gives back to the wider community by conducting |
|
|
plantings at parks, organizing the annual Frisco Veterans of |
|
|
Foreign Wars Memorial Day Service, and completing a number of other |
|
|
worthwhile projects; moreover, the club works together with the |
|
|
Frisco Educational Foundation to award scholarships to local |
|
|
students seeking a college degree in horticulture, agricultural |
|
|
sciences, or environmental sciences; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Frisco Garden Club has brightened and enriched |
|
|
the lives of fellow citizens through its careful stewardship of the |
|
|
natural world, and its many achievements are indeed deserving of |
|
|
special recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend the Frisco Garden Club for its important |
|
|
work in behalf of the community and extend to the club best wishes |
|
|
for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the Frisco Garden Club as an expression of high regard |
|
|
by the Texas House of Representatives. |
