R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The family and friends of Elizardo Amaya are
  mourning the loss of this beloved gentleman, who passed away on
  April 5, 2015, at the age of 73; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Elizardo and Maria Amaya, Mr. Amaya was
  born in Corpus Christi on March 9, 1942; while attending Roy Miller
  High School, he earned all-district honors in baseball and was
  inducted into the Miller Buccaneers Athletics Hall of Fame;
  following his graduation in 1961, he went on to play for the
  University of Corpus Christi; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Amaya spent some time on the semipro circuit
  after college and found employment at the Corpus Christi Army
  Depot, where he continued to work for the next 45 years; his passion
  for baseball led him to explore another aspect of the sport, and he
  served as a mentor to many during his more than four decades
  coaching and umpiring; and
         WHEREAS, A devoted family man, Mr. Amaya was the proud father
  of two sons, Larry and Leonard, and he delighted in the time he
  shared with his seven grandchildren, Alexis, Justin, Zachary,
  Larry, Emma, Karley, and Alyssa; and
         WHEREAS, Admired for his inspiring leadership and joyous zest
  for life, Elizardo Amaya brightened the world for all who knew him,
  and they will forever hold him close in their hearts; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Elizardo Amaya and
  extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his sons,
  Larry Amaya and his wife, Monica, and Leonard Amaya and his wife,
  Cindy; to his grandchildren, Alexis, Justin, Zachary, Larry Jr.,
  Emma, Karley, and Alyssa; to his companion, Alice Sanchez; to his
  mother, Maria Ruiz Amaya; to his brothers, Emilio R. Amaya and his
  wife, Raquel, Ernesto Amaya and his wife, Tisha, Eduardo R. Amaya
  and his wife, Adelina, and Eloy Amaya; to his sisters, Venina Flores
  and her husband, Santos, and Sandra Quesada and her husband,
  Richard; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Elizardo
  Amaya.
