R E S O L U T I O N

|
|
WHEREAS, Lexi Ruiz of Tuloso-Midway High School was honored |
|
|
for her exceptional achievements during the 2014-2015 season by |
|
|
being chosen as a member of the first team in the Corpus Christi |
|
|
Caller-Times All-South Texas basketball awards selections; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Ruiz averaged 14 points, 3 steals, and 2.7 |
|
|
assists per game, helping the Cherokees advance to the regional |
|
|
semifinals of the playoffs for the second straight season; |
|
|
moreover, she was selected for the 30-4A All-District team for the |
|
|
second year in a row; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Michael and Victoria Ruiz, Lexi Ruiz |
|
|
is an accomplished student, serving as a member of the Student |
|
|
Council and the National Honor Society; after graduation, she will |
|
|
attend Texas Lutheran University on a partial basketball |
|
|
scholarship, and she plans to major in nursing; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The All-South Texas award provides fitting |
|
|
acknowledgement of the talent, hard work, and commitment to |
|
|
excellence demonstrated by this exemplary student-athlete, and she |
|
|
may take justifiable pride in her accomplishments; now, therefore, |
|
|
be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Lexi Ruiz on being chosen as a |
|
|
member of the first team in the Corpus Christi Caller-Times |
|
|
All-South Texas basketball awards selections and extend to her |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Ruiz as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
