R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Victoria Blankenship of West Oso High School was |
|
honored for her exceptional achievements during the 2014-2015 |
|
season by being chosen as a member of the first team in the Corpus |
|
Christi Caller-Times All-South Texas basketball awards selections; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Blankenship averaged 15.4 points and 9.4 |
|
rebounds per game and helped lead the Lady Bears to the district |
|
title and on to the area round of the 4A playoffs; for the second |
|
consecutive year, she was named Co-Most Valuable Player in the |
|
31-4A All-District awards and garnered 4A All-State honors; and |
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Jerome Blankenship and Crystal |
|
Conigland-Powell, Victoria Blankenship is an outstanding student, |
|
ranked in the top 10 percent of her junior class; she is a member of |
|
the National Honor Society and the Student Council, and she is |
|
currently enrolled in dual credit courses with Del Mar College; |
|
after graduation, she hopes to attend the University of North |
|
Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she wants to study sports and |
|
chiropractic medicine and continue to play basketball; and |
|
WHEREAS, The All-South Texas award provides fitting |
|
acknowledgement of the talent, hard work, and commitment to |
|
excellence demonstrated by this exemplary student-athlete, and she |
|
may take justifiable pride in her accomplishments; now, therefore, |
|
be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Victoria Blankenship on being |
|
chosen as a member of the first team in the Corpus Christi |
|
Caller-Times All-South Texas basketball awards selections and |
|
extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Blankenship as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
