R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the |
|
death of Barbara Laine Brunner of Banquete on April 6, 2015, at the |
|
age of 84; and |
|
WHEREAS, The former Barbara French was born in Robstown on |
|
November 13, 1930, to John James French and Lenna Lee French |
|
Bengtson; after graduating from Robstown High School, she earned a |
|
bachelor's degree in elementary education from Texas College of |
|
Arts and Industries, and in 1951, she began teaching at De Zavala |
|
School in Corpus Christi; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. French was joined in matrimony to Richard |
|
E. Brunner in 1952, and they shared more than six decades together; |
|
they were blessed with four children, Richard, James, John, and |
|
Robbe, and their family later grew to include a granddaughter and a |
|
great-granddaughter; and |
|
WHEREAS, After raising her children, Mrs. Brunner resumed |
|
her career, teaching third and fourth grades at Banquete Elementary |
|
School for 25 years, until her retirement; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Brunner was active in the Daughters of the |
|
American Revolution, and she served on the board of the Robstown |
|
Area Historical Association; she also maintained her friendships |
|
with her Delta Theta sorority sisters throughout her life; and |
|
WHEREAS, A skilled cook and baker, Mrs. Brunner shared her |
|
famous buttermilk pies and banana bread with friends and loved ones |
|
and put together a cookbook of her favorite recipes; she also |
|
delighted in creating floral arrangements, decorating her home for |
|
the holidays, and shopping for antiques with friends; and |
|
WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Barbara Brunner |
|
will long remember the way she touched their lives with her warmth |
|
and generosity, and she will forever hold a treasured place in their |
|
hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Barbara Laine |
|
Brunner and extend sincere condolences to the members of her |
|
family: to her husband, Richard E. Brunner; to her sons, Richard T. |
|
Brunner and his wife, Benita, James Brunner and his wife, Geneva, |
|
John Brunner and his girlfriend, Lucero Tellez; to her daughter, |
|
Robbe Brunner and her boyfriend, Mark Henricks; to her |
|
granddaughter, Shea Lynn Brunner-Gonzales; to her |
|
great-granddaughter, Brianna Brunner; and to her other relatives |
|
and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Barbara |
|
Laine Brunner. |
