R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, A life filled with promise ended far too soon with
  the untimely passing of Lee Middleton Hooper Walker of El Paso on
  May 22, 2014, at the age of 19; and
         WHEREAS, The only child of Mark and Kathleen Walker, Lee
  Walker was born in El Paso on October 25, 1994; he attended
  St. Clement's School and Coronado High School, where he was
  respected and admired by teachers and classmates alike and
  participated in a number of extracurricular activities; he played
  in the percussion section of the marching band, tutored his fellow
  students, served as treasurer for the National Honor Society, and
  qualified for state in the Academic Decathlon and for nationals as a
  member of the debate team; and
         WHEREAS, Though modest about his many achievements, he was
  recognized with the Rector's Award for highest academic performance
  at St. Clement's, with a 2009 President's Education Award for
  Outstanding Academic Excellence, and with several accolades
  through the outdoor education program; furthermore, he was a
  national merit semifinalist and graduated sixth in his class at
  Coronado; he earned a scholarship to The University of Texas at
  Austin Jackson School of Geosciences and completed his freshman
  year in the Plan II Honors Program; he was also a member of the Plan
  II Pre-Law Society; and
         WHEREAS, Passionate about nature, Mr. Walker was active in
  the Sunday Morning Hiking Club and volunteered on trail crews with
  the Student Conservation Association at Sam Houston National Forest
  and at Kenai Fjords National Park in Alaska; he was an avid
  outdoorsman who took numerous trips to pursue his love of camping,
  hunting, fishing, and hiking; he visited such noteworthy locations
  as Yosemite and Yellowstone National Parks, Muir Woods, Durango,
  Jackson Hole, Washington, D.C., the United Kingdom, France, and New
  Zealand; an accomplished chef, he also enjoyed following Julia
  Child's recipes and making his own jam; and
         WHEREAS, Possessed of a brilliant mind, a dry wit, and an
  exceptional generosity of spirit, Lee Walker touched countless
  lives during his journey on this earth, and he will always be
  remembered with great tenderness and affection by all those who
  were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Lee Middleton Hooper
  Walker and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to
  his parents, Mark Callis and Kathleen Campbell Walker; to his
  grandparents, Barbara Callis and Arland R. Walker; and to his other
  relatives and many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lee
  Middleton Hooper Walker.
