R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Students from Kountze High School made an impressive |
|
|
showing at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art contest |
|
|
on January 17, 2015; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The group competed against local art students to win |
|
|
medals, trophies, cash prizes, and the opportunity to attend |
|
|
advanced art camps; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A number of Kountze students participated in the |
|
|
two-dimensional category, including Echo Dillon, Shelby Frazier, |
|
|
Josie Gunter, Kiley Rankin, Dadrian Akbar, Caleb Atkins, Austin |
|
|
Baker, Keke Barry, Bridget Bell, Grace Cunningham, Jesse Enahoro, |
|
|
Kruz Foshee, Harlee Weyler, Dylan Gallion, Adrianna Gatewood, |
|
|
Deontre Haynes, Tim Hoke, Jamarcus Huntsberry, My'Treann McDaniel, |
|
|
Alexis Silcox, Coy Smart, Carli Swor, Summer Brown, Jesse Hall, and |
|
|
Gavin Robles; in addition, Noah Roehr and Robert Summerall entered |
|
|
the competition in the three-dimensional category; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Josie Gunter and Kiley Rankin each received a gold |
|
|
medal award, and Summer Brown won the Best of Show award, earning a |
|
|
scholarship to a summer art program hosted by Schreiner University |
|
|
and the Museum of Western Art in Kerrville; all three will advance |
|
|
to the Grand Prix round; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, These talented artists are a source of great pride |
|
|
to their families, their school, and their community, and they are |
|
|
indeed deserving of recognition for their participation in this |
|
|
contest; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend the Kountze High School students who |
|
|
competed in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art contest |
|
|
and extend to them sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared |
|
|
for the students as an expression of high regard by the Texas House |
|
|
of Representatives. |
