R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Corpus Christi is
  celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2015, and this occasion
  presents a fitting opportunity to recognize the organization's
  important work; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 1990, the Corpus Christi Ronald
  McDonald House provides assistance to families with critically ill
  or injured children; it has served as a temporary home for more than
  22,000 families over the years, allowing parents and siblings who
  live more than 50 miles away to stay close to a child receiving
  treatment at a nearby hospital; by keeping families together, the
  house supports the healing process and improves the hospital
  experience for young patients; additionally, parents and siblings
  gain strength and stability by connecting with other residents who
  are facing similar circumstances; and
         WHEREAS, The Ronald McDonald House offers 25 private bedrooms
  that can accommodate up to four people, and volunteers and staff
  provide scheduled transportation to and from hospitals in the
  immediate area; indoor and outdoor play areas are available for
  children of all ages, and special events are scheduled for the
  benefit of residents; and
         WHEREAS, The facility is financed through donations and a
  variety of charitable events, such as Casa de Amor and the Day of
  Change; residents pay a small fee to help offset costs and give back
  to the house by taking part in volunteer efforts; individuals and
  community groups also contribute in various ways, including through
  the preparation of home-cooked meals for the families; and
         WHEREAS, For a quarter-century, the Ronald McDonald House of
  Corpus Christi has fostered a welcoming and supportive environment
  for the loved ones of sick or injured children, and in so doing, it
  has enriched the lives of countless families in the Lone Star State;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 25th anniversary of Ronald
  McDonald House Charities of Corpus Christi and extend to the
  organization's staff and volunteers sincere best wishes for the
  future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Corpus Christi as
  an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
