R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, St. Anthony School in Robstown is commemorating the
  100th anniversary of its founding with a celebration in 2016; and
         WHEREAS, Founded in 1916 by the Missionary Sisters of the
  Most Pure Virgin Mary, St. Anthony School initially served 20
  students who were the children of Mexican migrant farmworkers; as
  the Robstown community changed over the years, so did the school,
  which constructed a new facility in the mid-1960s; by 1997, the
  school had expanded to include programs for prekindergarten through
  the eighth grade; and
         WHEREAS, Today St. Anthony School continues to serve a
  predominately Hispanic student population; in addition to teaching
  the traditional subjects, the school uses computer technology to
  enhance learning and to equip students with the skills needed to
  succeed; with the support of devoted alumni, families, and
  teachers, the school remains a source of estimable faith-based
  instruction and inspiration; and
         WHEREAS, For a century, St. Anthony School has provided a
  number of young Texans with a strong educational foundation, and it
  is indeed fitting to recognize the school at this point in its rich
  history; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 100th anniversary of
  St. Anthony School in Robstown and extend to its administrators,
  faculty, staff, and students sincere best wishes for the future;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
