R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Constable Patrick William Feely of the Nueces County |
|
Constable's Office lost his life in the line of duty on March 25, |
|
1917, and his service and sacrifice will not soon be forgotten; and |
|
WHEREAS, At the age of 49, Constable Feely was responding to a |
|
disturbance call about a group of men driving recklessly with one |
|
man on the hood of the car; a gunman was hiding in the bushes, and he |
|
shot Constable Feely as he walked by; the officer was able to return |
|
fire and hit the suspect, who was later arrested; sadly, his own |
|
wound proved to be fatal; and |
|
WHEREAS, Our state and nation benefit immeasurably from the |
|
courage and commitment of law enforcement professionals such as |
|
Constable Patrick Feely, who willingly place themselves in harm's |
|
way each day to safeguard the lives and property of their fellow |
|
citizens; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life and exemplary service of |
|
Constable Patrick William Feely of the Nueces County Constable's |
|
Office. |
