R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, Sheriff Matthew Nolan of the Nueces County Sheriff's |
|
|
Office lost his life in the line of duty on December 22, 1864, and |
|
|
his service and sacrifice will not soon be forgotten; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A five-year veteran of the sheriff's office, Sheriff |
|
|
Nolan was on duty when he was approached by two armed suspects who |
|
|
asked his name; after he replied, the men opened fire, killing him |
|
|
instantly; at the time of his death, he was survived by his wife; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Our state and nation benefit immeasurably from the |
|
|
courage and commitment of law enforcement professionals such as |
|
|
Sheriff Matthew Nolan, who willingly place themselves in harm's way |
|
|
each day to safeguard the lives and property of their fellow |
|
|
citizens; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life and exemplary service of |
|
|
Sheriff Matthew Nolan of the Nueces County Sheriff's Office. |
