R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Deputy Constable Patrick Stephen Runyon of the
  Nueces County Constable's Office lost his life in the line of duty
  on February 7, 1981, and his service and sacrifice will not soon be
  forgotten; and
         WHEREAS, A 32-year-old member of the department, Deputy
  Runyon was fatally shot while responding to a misdemeanor criminal
  mischief call at a residence; at the time of his death, he was
  survived by his wife, child, parents, and eight siblings; and
         WHEREAS, Our state and nation benefit immeasurably from the
  courage and commitment of law enforcement professionals such as
  Deputy Constable Patrick Runyon, who willingly place themselves in
  harm's way each day to safeguard the lives and property of their
  fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life and exemplary service of
  Deputy Constable Patrick Stephen Runyon of the Nueces County
  Constable's Office.
