R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Delia Briones has ably served the people of El Paso
  County as county clerk for eight years, and her dedication and
  expertise have earned her the respect of many people along the way;
  and
         WHEREAS, Now serving her third term in office, Ms. Briones
  has worked tirelessly to streamline and modernize operations,
  enhancing transparency as well as improving efficiency; she guided
  the digitizing of public records to make all documents available
  online, which has reduced delays and eliminated virtually all open
  records requests; under her leadership, the office has received
  5-Star Merit Recognition from the Texas Department of State Health
  Services Vital Statistics Unit; she is a member of the County and
  District Clerks' Association of Texas; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Briones previously served as a deputy clerk and
  a court coordinator; an El Paso native, she graduated from Austin
  High School and went on to attend The University of Texas at El
  Paso; she has demonstrated a strong commitment to the community
  through her membership in a number of organizations, including the
  League of Women Voters, the American Legion, the NAACP, and several
  Democratic associations; and
         WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Ms. Briones enjoys the love
  and support of her husband, Senior U.S. District Judge David
  Briones, and her sons, Nathan and Eddie; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of her tenure as a public servant,
  Delia Briones has made many significant contributions to the
  betterment of life in El Paso County, and she may take justifiable
  pride in her exemplary record of achievement; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Delia Briones for her committed public
  service and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
  success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Briones as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
