R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Delia Briones has ably served the people of El Paso |
|
|
County as county clerk for eight years, and her dedication and |
|
|
expertise have earned her the respect of many people along the way; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Now serving her third term in office, Ms. Briones |
|
|
has worked tirelessly to streamline and modernize operations, |
|
|
enhancing transparency as well as improving efficiency; she guided |
|
|
the digitizing of public records to make all documents available |
|
|
online, which has reduced delays and eliminated virtually all open |
|
|
records requests; under her leadership, the office has received |
|
|
5-Star Merit Recognition from the Texas Department of State Health |
|
|
Services Vital Statistics Unit; she is a member of the County and |
|
|
District Clerks' Association of Texas; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Briones previously served as a deputy clerk and |
|
|
a court coordinator; an El Paso native, she graduated from Austin |
|
|
High School and went on to attend The University of Texas at El |
|
|
Paso; she has demonstrated a strong commitment to the community |
|
|
through her membership in a number of organizations, including the |
|
|
League of Women Voters, the American Legion, the NAACP, and several |
|
|
Democratic associations; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Ms. Briones enjoys the love |
|
|
and support of her husband, Senior U.S. District Judge David |
|
|
Briones, and her sons, Nathan and Eddie; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Over the course of her tenure as a public servant, |
|
|
Delia Briones has made many significant contributions to the |
|
|
betterment of life in El Paso County, and she may take justifiable |
|
|
pride in her exemplary record of achievement; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor Delia Briones for her committed public |
|
|
service and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Briones as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
