R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The 100th birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed a
  special occasion, and Minnie Bell Williams of League City
  celebrated this momentous milestone with family and friends on
  March 7, 2015; and
         WHEREAS, Born to Dora Ashford and Morris Henson in Beasley in
  1915, she grew up with a sister, Mildred, and three brothers,
  Johnny, Willie, and Alec; in her youth, she spent much of her time
  on her grandfather's farm, picking cotton, milking cows, and
  gathering eggs, and following her chores, she ran the mile to school
  in order to arrive on time; and
         WHEREAS, She met the love of her life, Hugo Williams, while
  employed as a dime-a-dance girl in Houston, and they married on
  August 6, 1938; the couple became the proud parents of three
  daughters, Betty, Barbara, and Nancy, and Mrs. Williams had a grand
  time raising them, while instilling positive values and stressing
  the importance of education; and
         WHEREAS, Through the years, "Mom and Pop Williams" continued
  to delight people with their smooth moves at dance halls across
  Texas, proving that grace has no age limit; Mrs. Williams now
  credits her longevity and good health to lots of dancing, loads of
  fun, spending time with loved ones, staying positive, and enjoying
  a margarita; and
         WHEREAS, This vibrant centenarian also likes playing the slot
  machines at the casino, and she keeps up with technological
  developments; recently, she participated in her first video chat
  with a great-granddaughter via an iPhone application, and she is
  eagerly anticipating the day when robots will clean her house; a
  treasured matriarch, she takes pride in a fine family that has grown
  to include 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Dancing her way into her second century, Minnie
  Williams is a source of inspiration to all, and it is truly a
  pleasure to honor her for 100 years well lived; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Minnie Bell Williams on her 100th
  birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
  happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Williams as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
