R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The International Junior Miss Scholarship Program |
|
is dedicated to encouraging achievement among girls and young women |
|
by helping them to build poise and self-confidence; and |
|
WHEREAS, Each year, the International Junior Miss |
|
organization awards scholarships to contestants who have achieved |
|
distinction in academics or volunteer service, who have |
|
demonstrated remarkable talent, or who have shown special ability |
|
in categories such as modeling and public speaking; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Lone Star State is well represented in the |
|
International Junior Miss Scholarship Program; many exceptional |
|
young Texans have competed in the six age categories, taking |
|
advantage of opportunities to gain experience both on stage and in |
|
an interview setting; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through participation in International Junior Miss, |
|
contestants are learning valuable skills and developing a |
|
commitment to excellence that will serve them well as they work |
|
toward their goals in the years to come; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby recognize May 8, 2015, as International Junior |
|
Miss Texas Day. |
