R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Raymond Palacios Jr., president of Bravo Chevrolet
  Cadillac, has been inducted into the El Paso Business Hall of Fame;
  and
         WHEREAS, A Houston native, Mr. Palacios served his country in
  the United States Marine Corps, and he earned his accounting degree
  from the University of Houston; beginning his career as a CPA, he
  rose to become a vice president of developer Perry Homes before
  deciding to fulfill his dream of owning a company; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Palacios completed the General Motors dealer
  development program, and he worked in every department of a
  dealership in Houston, learning the business from the ground up; in
  1999, he took a chance on an underperforming dealership in El Paso,
  purchasing it sight unseen; within a month under his leadership,
  the store had turned a profit for the first time in five years; he
  subsequently bought another dealership in Las Cruces; and
         WHEREAS, Highly regarded in the industry, Mr. Palacios
  serves on the board of the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles; he
  has benefited his profession in numerous other key roles, among
  them district director of the Texas Automotive Dealers Association,
  president of the El Paso New Car Dealers Association, and vice chair
  of the General Motors Minority Dealer Advisory Council; and
         WHEREAS, This dynamic entrepreneur has demonstrated a strong
  commitment to civic life and charitable endeavors; he serves on the
  Paul L. Foster School of Medicine Dean's Advisory Council, on the
  executive board of the Borderplex Economic Alliance, and on the
  board of the Council for Economic and Educational Development; in
  addition, he has served as president of the Association for the
  Advancement of Mexican Americans, and he has given generously of
  his time and talents to the University of Houston Alumni
  Association, the Yucca Council Boy Scouts of America, the Young
  Achievers Forum, and many other organizations; and
         WHEREAS, Raymond Palacios has earned the deep respect and
  admiration of the El Paso business community, and he may indeed take
  pride in his accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Raymond Palacios Jr. on his
  induction in the El Paso Business Hall of Fame and extend to him
  sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Palacios as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
