R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The Reverend Dr. Patrick Rucker, pastor at Koinonia
  Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas, is serving as Pastor of the Day
  for the Texas House of Representatives on May 11, 2015; and
         WHEREAS, Pastor Rucker earned a bachelor's degree in music
  education from Central Methodist University and a master's degree
  in education administration from Texas A&M University--Commerce;
  he later enrolled at Aspen Theological Seminary, where he completed
  his doctorate in urban ministries; and
         WHEREAS, After accepting the call to the ministry in 1984,
  Pastor Rucker preached his first sermon as an associate minister at
  King Baptist Church in Denver, Colorado; he continued his
  ministerial journey in Dallas, where he served as interim pastor at
  Paradise Missionary Baptist Church and as assistant pastor at
  Greater El Bethel Missionary Baptist Church; and
         WHEREAS, This respected clergyman was installed as pastor of
  Koinonia Missionary Baptist in 2006, and during his tenure, he has
  helped develop the Women of Purpose ministry, the Christian
  Education Department, and the Mid-Week Family Fellowship, as well
  as dance, culinary, health care, hospitality, and management and
  budget ministries; he has also played an instrumental role in the
  success of the Christmas Benefit program; and
         WHEREAS, Pastor Rucker has further distinguished himself
  through his involvement in a number of religious organizations; a
  member of the National Baptist Convention, USA, he has served as
  chair of finance and vice moderator of the Northwestern District
  Association of Baptist Churches, as regional assistant for the
  Baptist Missionary and Educational Convention of Texas, and as a
  board member of the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance; and
         WHEREAS, Over the years, Pastor Patrick Rucker has inspired
  countless Texans with his message of grace and goodwill, and it is a
  pleasure to welcome him to this chamber; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Dr. Patrick Rucker for his service as
  Pastor of the Day and extend to him sincere best wishes for the
  future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Rucker as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
