R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The certain knowledge of a life well lived may
  temper the profound sadness felt at the passing of Fongee Wong of
  Houston on January 7, 2015, at the age of 81; and
         WHEREAS, Born on December 28, 1933, in Grady, Arkansas,
  Fongee Wong grew up in a large family and graduated from Gould High
  School before earning a bachelor's degree in nursing from The
  University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston; she later received
  her master's in nursing from the University of Maryland, and she
  went on to complete her doctorate in public health from The
  University of Texas Health Science Center; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Wong enjoyed a successful career as a professor
  at Texas Woman's University, and she frequently took her students
  to needy communities in the Houston area to educate them on public
  health issues; she later worked as a real estate broker, founding
  her own firm, Bee Hive Realty; and
         WHEREAS, A woman of deep faith, Mrs. Wong was a valued
  congregant of Second Baptist Church for nearly three decades; she
  gave freely of her time and talents in service to her church,
  volunteering as a member of the bulletin brigade, Bible Study
  Fellowship, and Gospel Truth Bible Study, and participating in
  activities at Second Baptist's Family Life Center; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Wong shared 35 rewarding years with her
  husband, Kent, whom she married in 1980; the couple were the devoted
  parents of three children, Kent, Priscilla, and Grace, and with the
  passing years, their family grew to include three grandchildren;
  the beloved matriarch of a large extended family, she was
  affectionately known as "Aunt Gee" to her loved ones; and
         WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Fongee Wong
  will remember the way she touched their lives with her warmth,
  kindness, and compassion, and she will forever hold a treasured
  place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Fongee Wong and
  extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
  husband, Kent Wong; to her son, Kent Wong, and his wife, Carol; to
  her daughters, Priscilla Hood and her husband, Lee, and Grace Wong;
  to her grandchildren, Kayla, Bryce, and Blake Hood; to her sisters,
  May, Mary, and Julia; to her brothers, Douglas and Clinton; and to
  her many other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns on this day, it do so in memory of Fongee
  Wong.
