R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and |
|
meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends |
|
of Eugenie Avery of Winnetka, Illinois, who passed away on |
|
September 9, 2013, at the age of 103; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Shaker Heights, Ohio, Jean Avery graduated |
|
from Smith College; in 1934, she married William H. Avery, and the |
|
couple raised three children, Nancy, Cameron, and Richard; with the |
|
passing years, their family grew to include a son-in-law, Paul |
|
Pressler, and two daughters-in-law, Lynn Donaldson and Judy Avery, |
|
as well as 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, This civic-minded individual participated in a |
|
number of worthy organizations and groups, including the Winnetka |
|
Presbyterian Church, which she served as an elder and deacon; she |
|
was also a member of the Fortnightly of Chicago, the Antiquarian |
|
Society of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Town and Country Arts |
|
Club, and the Kenilworth Garden Club; and |
|
WHEREAS, Blessed with a devoted family and admiring friends, |
|
Jean Avery was a source of joy and inspiration to all who shared in |
|
the richness of her life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Eugenie Avery and |
|
extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her |
|
children, Nancy Pressler and her husband, Paul, Cameron Avery and |
|
his wife, Lynn Donaldson, and Richard Avery and his wife, Judy; to |
|
her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and to her other |
|
relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jean Avery. |
