R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt by |
|
the family and friends of Kobi Isabella Pickett of Houston, who died |
|
on January 11, 2015, at the age of 15; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in 1999 to Don and Stephanie Pickett, Kobi |
|
Pickett was a sophomore at Memorial High School, where she excelled |
|
in her studies and took part in track and soccer; she was a member of |
|
the Girl Scouts for the past 10 years and was working toward her |
|
Gold Award; she was also looking forward to attending her mother's |
|
alma mater, The University of Texas at Austin; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Pickett loved swimming and snorkeling at Barton |
|
Springs in Austin, water-skiing at local lakes, taking walks with |
|
the family dog, Murphy, and spending time with her friends; a young |
|
woman of strong religious faith, she took inspiration and delight |
|
in the happy times she spent at Camp Cho-Yeh, a Christian summer |
|
camp; and |
|
WHEREAS, Joyful and energetic, athletic and artistic, Kobi |
|
Pickett was the darling of her parents and her big brother, Dawson, |
|
and although her days were far too few, the light she brought into |
|
the lives of those who loved her will never be extinguished; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Kobi Isabella |
|
Pickett and extend sincere condolences to the members of her |
|
family: to her parents, Don and Stephanie Pickett; to her brother, |
|
Dawson Pickett; to her grandmother, Lucille Bonno; to her extended |
|
family, Richard Hykel, Bob and Mary Pickett, James and Sheryl |
|
Hykel, Donna and Randy Jarnigan, and Chris Bonno; and to her other |
|
relatives and many friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Kobi |
|
Pickett. |
