R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |
|
of Elmer Leroy Zoch, who passed away on February 2, 2014, at the age |
|
of 81; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born on February 17, 1932, to Alvin T. and Ernestine |
|
Mertink Zoch in Warda, Elmer Zoch grew up in the company of eight |
|
siblings, working on the family farm and attending Holy Cross |
|
Lutheran Church; coming of age at mid-century, this valorous Texan |
|
served his nation as a member of the United States Army in the |
|
Korean War; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Zoch's numerous interests embraced agriculture, |
|
carpentry, and politics; imbued with a deep sense of civic |
|
responsibility, he served as a precinct captain and mentored many |
|
young candidates, and he put his knowledge of real estate to use |
|
during his tenure on the Harris County Appraisal Review Board; this |
|
esteemed Texan played an active role in Trinity Lutheran Church, |
|
where he was a longtime parishioner and where he enjoyed |
|
videotaping church events and services for the congregation; he |
|
also contributed articles to the Giddings Times and News and the |
|
Fayette County Record; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Zoch enjoyed the love and |
|
support of his wife, the former Eva Schmidt, whom he married in |
|
1978; the couple were blessed with a daughter, Jennifer, and a |
|
grandson, Knox; and |
|
WHEREAS, A man whose life was rich in the intangibles that |
|
matter most, Elmer Zoch is deeply missed by all those who held him |
|
dear; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Elmer Leroy Zoch and |
|
extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his |
|
wife, Eva Zoch; to his daughter, Jennifer, and her husband, Ronald |
|
Hartmann Jr.; to his grandson, Knox; to his sisters, Hattie |
|
Lovaasen and Irene Weaver; to his brothers, Raymond, Rudy, Freddie, |
|
and Eugene Zoch; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in remembrance of Elmer |
|
Leroy Zoch. |
