R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Duncan Samo, a retired educator at Del Mar College |
|
|
in Corpus Christi, has been named professor emeritus by the |
|
|
college's board of regents; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Emeritus status is conferred on select former |
|
|
faculty members and administrators in recognition of their |
|
|
significant contributions to the educational community; many of |
|
|
these distinguished individuals continue to serve the university |
|
|
during their retirement; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Professor emeritus of medical laboratory |
|
|
technology, Mr. Samo served as chair, program coordinator, and |
|
|
administrator of the Department of Allied Health during his 34-year |
|
|
tenure with Del Mar; in addition, he established the medical |
|
|
laboratory technology program and associated clinical |
|
|
affiliations, which provide students with necessary skills and |
|
|
credentials for their chosen field as well as with employment |
|
|
opportunities at Coastal Bend hospitals and laboratories; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Samo has further distinguished himself through |
|
|
his involvement with a number of professional organizations; he has |
|
|
attended more than 50 site visits as a site coordinator for the |
|
|
National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences, and |
|
|
he has served the agency as chair, vice chair, and member of its |
|
|
Program Review Committee; he has also held memberships with the |
|
|
American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science and the Texas |
|
|
Association for Clinical Laboratory Science, which he has also |
|
|
served as president; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through his myriad endeavors in behalf of Del Mar |
|
|
College, Duncan Samo has contributed immeasurably to advancing the |
|
|
mission of that institution, and he is indeed deserving of this |
|
|
prestigious accolade; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Duncan Samo on his designation as |
|
|
professor emeritus at Del Mar College and extend to him sincere best |
|
|
wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Samo as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
