R E S O L U T I O N

|
|
WHEREAS, The Junior Marine Corps from Bedichek Middle School |
|
|
in Austin received the National Over-all Grand Championship honors |
|
|
at the National Middle School Cadet Corps 2014 Drill Championships; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Competing at the event in Fort Worth on April 5, |
|
|
2014, the Bedichek Junior Marines triumphed over units from across |
|
|
the nation to capture the grand championship title; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The group received exceptional performances from |
|
|
each member of the unit, who all benefited from the instruction of |
|
|
their commanding officer, former Marine staff sergeant Darrick |
|
|
Norton; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through their participation in the Junior Marine |
|
|
Corps, these notable Bedichek students have strengthened their |
|
|
leadership and communication skills, enhanced their personal |
|
|
discipline, and experienced the rewards of successful teamwork, and |
|
|
they are indeed worthy of special recognition for their outstanding |
|
|
accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Bedichek Junior Marines on |
|
|
capturing the National Over-all Grand Championship at the National |
|
|
Middle School Cadet Corps 2014 Drill Championships and extend to |
|
|
all those associated with the unit sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued achievement; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the Bedichek Junior Marines as an expression of high |
|
|
regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
