R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The boys' soccer team from San Elizario High School
  brought its season to a triumphant close by winning the University
  Interscholastic League 4A state championship in Georgetown on April
  17, 2015; and
         WHEREAS, After compiling an impressive regular season record
  of 12 wins, 4 losses, and 3 ties, the Eagles began their march
  through the postseason, eclipsing tough opponents from Brownwood,
  Stephenville, Gainesville, Life Oak Cliff, and Kilgore High Schools
  to clinch a finals berth; and
         WHEREAS, Facing off against Liberty Hill High School with the
  state crown on the line, San Elizario fired the opening salvo with a
  goal by junior forward Edwin Marquez, and senior defender Abraham
  Escareno later scored a go-ahead point to bring the Eagles into
  halftime with a 2-1 edge; senior midfielder Francis Ruiz and junior
  forward Marcos Utajara notched goals in the second half to secure a
  4-2 Eagles victory and the first soccer state title in school
  history; and
         WHEREAS, Winning with a true team effort, the Eagles also
  received valuable contributions throughout the season from the
  other members of the roster: Humberto Aranda, Jaime Armenta,
  Jonathon Berumen, Luis Castro, Alexis Cervantes, Edgar Corral,
  Brandon Diaz, Jesus Franco, Miguel Arturo Hernandez, Alfredo Lopez,
  Alejandro Madrid, Jose Mendoza, Rene Monarez, Angel Rangel, Bryan
  Rodriguez, and Jaime Valenzuela; and
         WHEREAS, These determined young athletes were ably guided by
  head coach Max Sappenfield, athletics director Peter Morales,
  assistant coach Mario Espinoza, athletic trainer Jose Rojas, and
  student trainer Alfredo DeAnda; and
         WHEREAS, Capturing a state title represents the culmination
  of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering commitment to
  excellence, and the members of the San Elizario soccer team will
  treasure the memory of this accomplishment for many years to come;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the San Elizario High School boys'
  soccer team on winning the 2015 UIL 4A state championship and extend
  to the team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
