R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Amado Maurilio Peña Jr. has distinguished himself as
  a gifted and accomplished artist, and his creative work has earned
  the admiration of his fellow Texans; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Laredo, Amado Peña studied art and
  education at Texas A&I University in Kingsville, where he earned
  both his bachelor's and master's degrees; he currently teaches in
  his hometown at Alexander High School as part of the Studio Art
  League and serves as an adjunct professor with the College of
  Education at The University of Texas at Austin; he has also
  presented at many national education conferences; and
         WHEREAS, Bold colors and dynamic compositions feature
  prominently in Mr. Peña's artwork, which pays tribute to his Yaqui
  heritage and to the landscape of Arizona and New Mexico, the
  ancestral home of that people; he has been honored as an Artisan of
  the Pascua Yaqui Tribe of Arizona in recognition of his commitment
  to fostering interest in the tribe and its unique history and
  culture; and
         WHEREAS, Amado Peña's talent and passion for his craft are
  reflected in the impressive body of work that he has created over
  the course of his career, and his dedicated efforts have furthered
  the Lone Star State's reputation for excellence in the arts; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Amado Maurilio Peña Jr. for his artistic
  achievements and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
  success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Peña as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
