R E S O L U T I O N

|
|
WHEREAS, Richard P. Sanchez, former chief of staff for State |
|
|
Representative Sergio Muñoz Jr., is beginning a new position at The |
|
|
University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, and it is indeed appropriate |
|
|
to take this opportunity to commend him for his notable |
|
|
contributions to the legislative community and the people of Texas; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Sanchez began his distinguished career in |
|
|
government as a revenue estimator for the Texas comptroller's |
|
|
office; he then served as a policy specialist for the Senate |
|
|
Research Center and chief of staff for State Representative Ismael |
|
|
"Kino" Flores, and he was chief of staff for Representative Muñoz |
|
|
from January 2011 to December 2014; moreover, he has served in the |
|
|
Texas State Guard since 2000; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This highly respected Capitol staffer is a founding |
|
|
member of the board of Tejano Monument Incorporated, the nonprofit |
|
|
that organized recognition of our state's Tejano heritage through |
|
|
the placement of the splendid monument on the Capitol grounds, and |
|
|
he has served as secretary-treasurer of the group; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A former president of the Hidalgo/Starr Texas Exes |
|
|
Association, he holds a bachelor's degree in economics from The |
|
|
University of Texas at Austin and has completed the certified |
|
|
public manager program in public administration; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Richard Sanchez has greatly benefited his fellow |
|
|
citizens through his commendable dedication to public service, and |
|
|
as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life, he may |
|
|
reflect with pride on his accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor Richard P. Sanchez for his exemplary |
|
|
service to the state and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Sanchez as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
