R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The citizens of Kimble County lost an esteemed
  community leader with the passing of Wilbur Ray Dunk on May 10,
  2013, at the age of 84; and
         WHEREAS, Wilbur Dunk was born in Kimble County on September
  9, 1928, to William Henry and Ada Ophelia Dunk; as a teenager, he
  was the national first vice president of the FFA, and he graduated
  from Junction High School in 1946; and
         WHEREAS, A United States Army veteran, Mr. Dunk was stationed
  at Fort Hood before he returned to his family's ranch near Junction;
  in addition to ranching, he served his community as an elected
  public official for more than 33 years, first as the Precinct 4
  Kimble County commissioner and then as the county judge; he was a
  charter member of the Texas Association of Regional Councils and a
  director and president of the National Association of Regional
  Councils, and he was recognized with the Tom Bradley Regional
  Leadership Award and the first Wilbur R. Dunk Regional Leadership
  Award, which was named in his honor; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Dunk also served as president of the Junction
  Independent School District Board of Trustees, and he was a member
  of the Lions and Rotary Clubs; moreover, he was a deacon at First
  United Methodist Church and later at First Baptist Church; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Dunk enjoyed the love and
  support of his wife, the former Joyce Pyles, with whom he shared
  nearly six decades, and he took great pride in his children, Debra
  and Duane, and in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, The life of Wilbur Dunk stands as an inspiring
  example of positive civic engagement, and he leaves behind a legacy
  of good works that will long resonate in Kimble County; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Wilbur Ray Dunk and
  extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
  Joyce Dunk; to his children, Debra Speer and her husband, Kelly, and
  Duane Dunk and his wife, Tammy; to his brother, Harold Dunk, and his
  wife, Barbara; to his four grandchildren and nine
  great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and friends; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Wilbur Ray
  Dunk.
