R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A life filled with meaningful achievements drew to a
  close far too soon with the passing of Karen Michelle Peterson of
  Fort Worth on March 8, 2015, at the age of 42; and
         WHEREAS, Born on June 24, 1972, in Little Rock, Arkansas, the
  former Karen Raper was the daughter of Gary and Barbara Raper; she
  shared a rewarding relationship with her husband, Ron Peterson, and
  she was the mother of three children, Megan, Joshua, and Katie, all
  of whom she homeschooled; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Peterson found fulfillment in caring for her
  loved ones and was sustained by a deep and abiding religious faith;
  for nearly five years, she volunteered with the American Heritage
  Girls Tx1171 as a squad leader, explorer unit leader, and
  treasurer, and she believed strongly in the program's mission to
  develop women of integrity through service to God, family,
  community, and country; and
         WHEREAS, In the fall of 2013, Mrs. Peterson helped found
  American Heritage Girls Troop Tx2415; the number chosen for the
  troop represented her favorite Bible verse, Joshua 24:15, which
  reads, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord"; she and her
  husband also joined several other families in establishing a Trail
  Life USA troop, providing a similar faith-centered organization for
  boys in the area; the couple shared a passion for service and gave
  generously of their time and resources; and
         WHEREAS, Always ready with a smile and a hug, this
  warmhearted woman was a dear friend and a trusted listener who made
  everyone feel appreciated; she delighted in the wonders of nature
  and enjoyed sharing her enthusiasm with those around her; and
         WHEREAS, Karen Peterson touched countless lives through her
  kind deeds and her selfless commitment to others, and she
  consistently embodied the virtues of the American Heritage Girls
  Creed: compassionate, loyal, responsible, honest, helpful, pure,
  resourceful, respectful, perseverant, and reverent; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Karen Michelle
  Peterson and extend deepest condolences to the members of her
  family: to her husband, Ron Peterson; to her children, Megan,
  Joshua, and Katie Peterson; to her parents, Gary and Barbara Raper;
  to her sister, Cheryl Based; and to her other relatives and many
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Karen
  Peterson.
