R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The baseball team from Calallen High School in |
|
|
Corpus Christi captured the District 30-5A championship with a |
|
|
victory over Flour Bluff High School on April 21, 2015; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Wildcats received a dominant performance from |
|
|
pitcher Kyle Hill, who tossed a two-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts, |
|
|
and benefited from a number of timely hits to win the game by a score |
|
|
of 4-0; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Led by head coach Steve Chapman, Calallen finished |
|
|
the regular season with an outstanding overall record of 21 wins to |
|
|
just 2 defeats, including a 14-1 mark in district play; as district |
|
|
champions, the Wildcats will go on to compete for the state title in |
|
|
the University Interscholastic League playoffs in May; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The hard work and determination of these talented |
|
|
student-athletes have been justly rewarded with a district crown, |
|
|
and they may indeed reflect with pride on their notable |
|
|
accomplishment; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Calallen High School baseball |
|
|
team on winning the District 30-5A championship and extend to them |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success in the postseason; and, |
|
|
be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
