R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The 30th anniversary of the Jim Hogg County Fair in
  Hebbronville in March 2015 provides a fitting opportunity to take
  note of this popular annual community festival; and
         WHEREAS, A long-standing annual tradition, the event was
  officially organized in 1985 by nine area residents under the aegis
  of the Jim Hogg County Fair Association; Eusebio G. Nava served as
  the association's first president; and
         WHEREAS, During that inaugural year, Marissa Ramirez was
  crowned as the first Miss Jim Hogg County Queen; in 1987, the Little
  Mr. and Miss Jim Hogg County competition was introduced, and in
  1988, the fair began honoring a Rancher of the Year; and
         WHEREAS, In its early days, the fair had no permanent home,
  but in 1994 the association purchased a site, with additional land
  donated by the family of Aris Barrera; over time, the fairground
  facilities have grown to include the Jim Hogg County Fair Pavilion,
  which is the largest dance hall in the county, as well as a show barn
  for exhibiting livestock; and
         WHEREAS, The central attraction of the fair continues to be
  the livestock competition, in which young members of FFA and 4-H
  compete to show steers, bulls, heifers, lambs, goats, hogs,
  rabbits, and other animals; attendees also delight in the fair's
  other events, including a trail ride, a carnival, a parade, and a
  cook-off; and
         WHEREAS, By combining family-friendly recreation with the
  promotion of agriculture and animal husbandry, the Jim Hogg County
  Fair has enlightened, enriched, and entertained residents and
  visitors alike for three successful decades; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Jim Hogg
  County Fair and extend sincere best wishes for the future to the
  Fair Association and its employees and volunteers; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Jim Hogg County Fair Association as an expression
  of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
