R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Gonzalo Partida of the United States Navy has been
  named commander of Patrol Squadron 9, and this achievement presents
  a fitting opportunity to recognize him for his outstanding service
  to his country; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Partida enlisted in the navy in 1990, and
  following his training as an electrician's mate, he earned a
  scholarship from the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps; he was
  commissioned after graduating with a bachelor's degree in chemistry
  from the University of Florida in December 1997; and
         WHEREAS, Originally stationed with a naval navigation
  training unit at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio,
  Mr. Partida received his first operational assignment with Patrol
  Squadron 9 at Marine Corps Base Hawaii in 1999; while a member of
  the unit, nicknamed the "Golden Eagles," he served as patrol plane
  instructor tactical coordinator and as mission commander and
  completed deployments around the globe; and
         WHEREAS, Commander Partida was transferred to Patrol
  Squadron 30 in 2003, and he later served for three years aboard the
  USS Ronald Reagan, during which time the ship completed its maiden
  deployment to the Arabian Gulf in support of the Global War on
  Terror; he went on to join Patrol Squadron 1 before being assigned
  in 2011 to the Joint Staff, Nuclear Command and Control
  Directorate, which he served as assistant deputy director for
  operations; and
         WHEREAS, In recognition of his outstanding record, Commander
  Partida has been awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal and
  the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat "V" device; and
         WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Commander Partida is
  blessed with the love and support of his wife, the former Laura
  Sanchez, and he takes tremendous pride in their three children,
  Noah, Cora, and Cruz; and
         WHEREAS, This distinguished officer has contributed
  significantly to the units with which he has served, and his
  commitment to duty, honor, and this country have reflected the
  highest ideals of the United States armed forces; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Gonzalo Partida on being named
  commander of Patrol Squadron 9 and extend to him sincere
  appreciation for his admirable service; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Commander Partida as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
