R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The Buna High School and Junior High School girls'
  track and field teams enjoyed notable success at the District 23-3A
  Track Meet at Deweyville High School on April 7, 2015; and
         WHEREAS, The Lady Cougar high school team captured the
  district crown with a total of 184 points; winning individual gold
  medals were Kendra Fisher in the long jump and Sarah Foster in the
  pole vault, 800-meter run, and 1,600-meter run; additionally, the
  relay team of Ms. Fisher, Courtney Smith, Makenzie Callender, and
  Mackenzie Graham took gold in both the 400-meter and 800-meter
  relays; and
         WHEREAS, Silver-medal-winning performances for the Lady
  Cougars came from Shalan Shields in both the discus and the shot
  put, Jessi Lavergne in the pole vault, Kori Harris in the 300-meter
  hurdles, Ms. Smith in the 400-meter run, and the team of
  Ms. Graham, Ms. Smith, Ms. Callender, and Kamryn Elliott in the
  1,600-meter relay; Ms. Smith also won a bronze in the pole vault,
  and other third-place finishers included Ms. Elliott in the high
  jump and long jump and Ms. Fisher in the 200-meter dash; and
         WHEREAS, The Buna Junior High School seventh grade team also
  claimed a district title, paced by gold medal performances by Laila
  Fry in the pole vault and Tori Brunette in the 800-meter run;
  moreover, Ms. Brunette took second place in the 1,600-meter run, as
  did Kenedi Goldman in the 800-meter run and triple jump, Chloe Baker
  in the 2,400-meter run, and the team of Brooke Sanders, Tori Ernst,
  Alexandra Mixson, and Ms. Goldman in the 1,600-meter relay; winning
  bronze medals for the Lady Cougars were Ms. Mixson in the triple
  jump, Ms. Baker in the 1,600-meter run, and the team of Kayden
  Bayer, Ms. Fry, Ms. Sanders, and Ms. Mixson in the 800-meter relay;
  and
         WHEREAS, The eighth grade squad placed fourth, with
  first-place finishes from Amber Askew in the pole vault and Brooke
  Burt in the 1,600-meter run; in addition, Natalie Shiftlet placed
  second in the pole vault, and Kara Green took third in the shot put;
  and
         WHEREAS, With their outstanding performances at the district
  meet, the girls' track and field teams from the Buna Independent
  School District proudly represented their schools and their
  community, and they may take justifiable pride in their notable
  accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the members of the Buna High School
  and Junior High School girls' track and field teams on their success
  at the District 23-3A meet and extend to the teams' athletes and
  coaches sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the teams as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
