R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Chris Ramirez, a reporter for the Corpus Christi |
|
Caller-Times, was honored at the 12th annual First Amendment Awards |
|
and Scholarship Dinner, presented by the Fort Worth chapter of the |
|
Society of Professional Journalists on April 17, 2015; and |
|
WHEREAS, These unique accolades recognize exceptional |
|
journalism that defends the freedom of the press as guaranteed by |
|
the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, supports the public's |
|
right to know, and champions the powerless and disadvantaged; and |
|
WHEREAS, Competing in the category for newspapers with a |
|
circulation of less than 50,000, Mr. Ramirez won an Opening the |
|
Books Award for his story titled "When Wells Run Dry," published in |
|
the Caller-Times; furthermore, his story "Port Growth" was a |
|
finalist in that same category; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through his skill, hard work, and dedication to the |
|
principles enshrined in the First Amendment, Chris Ramirez has |
|
earned well-deserved recognition from his professional peers for |
|
his journalistic excellence; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Chris Ramirez for winning a 2015 |
|
First Amendment Award from the Fort Worth Society of Professional |
|
Journalists and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued |
|
success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Ramirez as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
