R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, The Houston Chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction is |
|
|
celebrating its 50th anniversary at the group's Founders Day |
|
|
Luncheon on May 17, 2015, and this occasion offers a welcome |
|
|
opportunity to honor this exemplary civic organization; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, For a half-century, the members of the Houston |
|
|
Chapter have devoted themselves to serving the community; through |
|
|
their dedicated support of local and national initiatives, they |
|
|
strive diligently to fulfill the TLOD mission of enhancing the |
|
|
quality of life for youth and adults; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The chapter's Top Teens of America program offers |
|
|
young people opportunities for educational, moral, and cultural |
|
|
enrichment, and its Status of Women project helps individuals to |
|
|
manage their time and resources; in addition, the group places a |
|
|
special emphasis on assisting senior citizens, enabling them to |
|
|
continue leading engaged and fulfilling lives; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By carrying out a range of beautification efforts, |
|
|
TLOD members help to heighten awareness of environmental concerns |
|
|
and to improve area neighborhoods for the enjoyment of all; the |
|
|
chapter also forms partnerships with other groups, businesses, and |
|
|
governmental entities to make a positive difference in the city and |
|
|
beyond; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Houston Chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction has |
|
|
performed countless good works over the course of five decades, and |
|
|
its members have earned the lasting gratitude and admiration of |
|
|
their fellow residents; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Houston |
|
|
Chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction and extend to the |
|
|
organization's membership sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the chapter as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
