R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Jay Monroe Johnson of Tarleton State University has
  greatly benefited his fellow students and his school through his
  leadership as student body president; and
         WHEREAS, Actively involved in campus activities, Mr. Johnson
  has served in the Student Government Association for five years; he
  was elected president by his peers in April 2014 and has ably guided
  the organization throughout his term; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson has further distinguished himself as
  president of the Tarleton Alternative Transportation executive
  board, as vice president of academic affairs, and as chief justice
  of the SGA; in addition, he served as a senator of the College of
  Liberal and Fine Arts, as a house representative of the School Wide
  Activities Team, and as a member of the Freshman Representative
  Council and the Kappa Delta Rho Fraternity; in recognition of his
  contributions to the university, he received the 2014 John Tarleton
  Spirit Award and the 2015 Wanda Mercer Tarleton Legend Award; and
         WHEREAS, The son of proud parents Vic and LaQuita Johnson,
  Jay Johnson graduated with a bachelor's degree in political science
  from TSU in 2014, and he is currently pursuing a master's degree in
  management and leadership; and
         WHEREAS, Jay Johnson has set an inspiring example of service
  at Tarleton State University, and he may indeed reflect with
  satisfaction on his accomplishments in student government; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Jay Johnson on his service as student
  body president of Tarleton State University and extend to him
  sincere best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Johnson as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
