R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Kim Spence is retiring from Cottonwood Creek
  Elementary School in Coppell at the end of the 2014-2015 school
  year, and this occasion provides a fitting opportunity to reflect
  on the contributions of this esteemed educator; and
         WHEREAS, Teaching is a profession that calls for character,
  passion, and commitment, and Mrs. Spence has demonstrated these
  qualities in abundance throughout her 32-year career; she worked in
  the Midland, Lubbock, and Richardson Independent School Districts
  before joining Coppell ISD, where she has taught kindergarten and
  first grade at Cottonwood Creek Elementary; and
         WHEREAS, During recent years, Mrs. Spence has used
  technology to connect with classrooms in other countries and with
  her nephew while he was serving in the United States Army in
  Afghanistan, an activity that inspired her students to send letters
  and care packages to troops around the world; she has also served as
  a leader in the school's weekly prayer group, and she was honored in
  2009 as the Cottonwood Creek Teacher of the Year; and
         WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Mrs. Spence enjoys the love
  and support of her husband of 32 years, Jay, and her children, James
  and Sarah; she is a valued congregant and volunteer at the Village
  Church in Flower Mound, and she has also been involved in local
  mission work with Breakdown Ministries; and
         WHEREAS, Through her creativity and enthusiasm in the
  classroom, Kim Spence has helped students to acquire knowledge and
  skills that will benefit them well into the future, and her
  contributions have made a positive difference in the lives of
  numerous young Texans; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Kim Spence on her retirement from
  Cottonwood Creek Elementary School and extend to her sincere best
  wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Spence as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
