R E S O L U T I O N

|
|
WHEREAS, Cevekia DeGrate and Heather Helton of the Midway |
|
|
Independent School District distinguished themselves with their |
|
|
medal-winning performance at the 18th annual Technology Olympics |
|
|
held in Waco on February 26, 2015; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This noteworthy event was cosponsored by Education |
|
|
Service Center Region 12 and the Division for Blind Services of the |
|
|
Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Competing in a variety of tasks, approximately 70 |
|
|
students from across the state gained valuable experience using |
|
|
assistive technology, including electronic magnifiers, Braille |
|
|
note-taking devices, monocular telescopes, and laptops with |
|
|
special programs; the event also included a creative writing and |
|
|
art component to encourage self-expression; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, With their participation in this event, these |
|
|
outstanding young Texans learned new ways to overcome obstacles and |
|
|
acquired valuable skills, and they may take justifiable pride in |
|
|
the dedication and perseverance they have demonstrated; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Cevekia DeGrate and Heather Helton |
|
|
on winning medals at the 18th annual Technology Olympics and extend |
|
|
to them sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared |
|
|
for Ms. DeGrate and Ms. Helton as an expression of high regard by |
|
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
