R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Mark Collette, a former reporter for the Corpus
  Christi Caller-Times, was honored at the 12th annual First
  Amendment Awards and Scholarship Dinner, presented by the Fort
  Worth chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists on April
  17, 2015; and
         WHEREAS, These unique accolades recognize exceptional
  journalism that defends the freedom of the press as guaranteed by
  the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, supports the public's
  right to know, and champions the powerless and disadvantaged; and
         WHEREAS, Competing in the category for newspapers with a
  circulation of less than 50,000, Mr. Collette won the general news
  award for his story headlined "Public Never Had a Say on Costco"
  published in the Caller-Times; he also won in the investigative
  category for his examination of state licensing of counselors; and
         WHEREAS, Through his skill, hard work, and dedication to the
  principles enshrined in the First Amendment, Mark Collette has
  earned well-deserved recognition from his professional peers for
  his journalistic excellence; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Mark Collette for winning two 2015
  First Amendment Awards from the Fort Worth Society of Professional
  Journalists and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
  success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Collette as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
