R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Montgomery County United Way is commemorating
  the 60th anniversary of the organization's founding on May 13,
  2015; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 1955, MCUW actively encourages
  individuals and companies to work together to give, advocate, and
  volunteer; the agency performs an important public service by
  bringing together interested parties to seek solutions for local
  issues, and its annual campaigns have raised tens of millions of
  dollars to address those needs; and
         WHEREAS, Through its website, HelpOurCounty.org, MCUW
  mobilizes thousands of volunteers who give generously of their
  time, talents, and resources in behalf of nearly 400 Days of Caring
  projects, annually providing more than 8,000 volunteer hours; and
         WHEREAS, The United Way invests in area organizations that
  offer education, financial, health, and basic services to
  Montgomery County residents; among its many achievements has been
  the successful management of its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
  program, which offers free tax assistance to
  low-to-moderate-income and elderly clients, and of its Healthy
  Living Alliance, which addresses obesity; and
         WHEREAS, For six decades, the administrators, staff, and
  volunteers of the Montgomery County United Way have worked
  diligently to benefit the greater good, and it is indeed a privilege
  to join in recognizing the organization as it prepares to celebrate
  this significant milestone in its rich history; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 60th anniversary of the
  Montgomery County United Way and recognize May 13, 2015, as
  Montgomery County United Way Volunteer Appreciation Day at the
  State Capitol; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Montgomery County United Way as an expression of
  high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
