R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Old 300 BBQ of Blanco brought its savory specialties |
|
to the State Capitol during the 84th Legislative Session as one of |
|
the featured restaurants for "Bar-B-Quesday"; and |
|
WHEREAS, Hosted on Tuesdays by State Representative Jason |
|
Isaac, this popular event provides a showcase for some of the finest |
|
barbecue establishments from House District 45; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ladd Pepper, pitmaster at Old 300, grew up in Blanco |
|
and first learned the fine art of cooking Texas-style barbecue |
|
while working at a family-owned smokehouse near College Station; he |
|
earned a degree in wildlife and fisheries sciences from Texas A&M |
|
University, but producing quality smoked meats became his true |
|
passion, and over the course of his career, he has hand-cut and |
|
served more than 8,000 premium grade beef briskets; in 2013, he |
|
joined with the other members of the Old 300 staff to open the |
|
restaurant next to the courthouse square in Blanco, adding yet |
|
another popular barbecue destination to the Hill Country; and |
|
WHEREAS, Texas barbecue is renowned across the nation and |
|
around the world, and this proud culinary tradition is maintained |
|
and enriched by outstanding Central Texas businesses such as Old |
|
300 BBQ; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend Old 300 BBQ for its participation in |
|
Bar-B-Quesday and extend sincere best wishes to Ladd Pepper and his |
|
colleagues for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Old 300 BBQ as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
