R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, St. John the Apostle Catholic School in North
  Richland Hills is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its founding
  in 2015; and
         WHEREAS, Affiliated with St. John the Apostle Catholic
  Church, the school opened in 1965 under the leadership of its first
  principal, Anne Smith, with classes initially held in a temporary
  building while the original eight classrooms were being
  constructed; over the years, the campus has grown to include
  numerous classrooms, a preschool building, a science room, a
  library, a media center, and a gymnasium; in the fall of 2013, the
  school adopted a new administration model, splitting duties between
  the principal, Amy Felton, and a newly appointed president, David
  Dean; and
         WHEREAS, For a half-century, the school has maintained stable
  enrollment and faculty, provided innovative programs and a relevant
  curriculum, and consistently produced graduates equipped with the
  knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in college and beyond;
  many alumni have later returned to enroll their children at SJS,
  demonstrating their commitment to a value-based Catholic
  education; and
         WHEREAS, The school earned full accreditation status and
  several exemplary and outstanding ratings from the Texas Catholic
  Conference in 1987, and this achievement was repeated in 1997 and in
  2007; furthermore, in October 2008 the U.S. Department of Education
  named SJS a Nationally Recognized Blue Ribbon School, making it the
  first educational institution in Tarrant County to receive this
  distinction; and
         WHEREAS, Dedicated to providing a holistic education, the
  faculty and staff of St. John the Apostle School are helping young
  Texans to reach their full potential and to become engaged and
  productive members of their community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 50th anniversary of St. John the
  Apostle Catholic School and extend to its students, administration,
  faculty, and staff sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
