R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Clear Creek Independent School District
  Robonauts were part of the winning alliance at the annual FIRST
  Robotics Competition world championship held in St. Louis,
  Missouri, from April 22 through 25, 2015; and
         WHEREAS, Founded in 1989, For Inspiration and Recognition of
  Science and Technology, or FIRST, encourages young people to take
  an interest in science and technology and to become leaders in
  related professions; the organization engages students in
  mentor-based programs that enhance knowledge in those disciplines
  while fostering self-confidence, communication, leadership, and
  other life skills; and
         WHEREAS, This year's FIRST tournament involved a game called
  Recycle Rush, played by two rival alliances of three robots each
  striving to score points by stacking totes on platforms, capping
  those stacks with recycling bins, and properly disposing of pool
  noodles, which represented litter in the event; the Robonauts and
  their robot, Empire, joined forces with their alliance partners
  from Davis, Clovis, and Palmdale, California, in vanquishing tough
  opponents from across the United States as well as Canada and
  Australia; and
         WHEREAS, The Robonauts program was founded 19 years ago as a
  partnership between the NASA Johnson Space Center and Clear Creek
  ISD, and it has since made significant strides in advancing
  community awareness of robotics; and
         WHEREAS, In collaborating with their partners to claim the
  2015 FIRST world championship, the Robonauts have demonstrated
  outstanding talent and dedication, and their achievement stands as
  a source of pride for their classmates and their many supporters in
  the local community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Clear Creek Independent School
  District Robonauts on being part of the winning alliance at the 2015
  FIRST Robotics Competition world championship and extend to all
  those involved with the team sincere best wishes for continued
  success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
