R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Waco Euterpean Club was recognized with a number |
|
|
of awards at the Texas Federation of Music Clubs centennial |
|
|
anniversary celebration, which took place March 19 through 21, |
|
|
2015, in Brownwood; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The event commemorated the meeting that was held in |
|
|
1915 to unite the music clubs of Texas under the umbrella of the |
|
|
Texas Federation of Music Clubs; founded in 1894, Waco Euterpean is |
|
|
one of the oldest such groups in the state, and today, members |
|
|
continue to sponsor musical programs and initiatives throughout the |
|
|
community; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of Waco Euterpean took home numerous |
|
|
state-level awards from the celebration, which included having |
|
|
their Parade of American Music Report sent on to national |
|
|
competition; honored as the number one club in Texas in outreach |
|
|
musical hours, the group saw one of its members, Jean Pinner, place |
|
|
first in that category as well; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The members of the Waco Euterpean Club have |
|
|
demonstrated an outstanding commitment to musicianship and the arts |
|
|
in their community, and they may take pride in their spirited |
|
|
efforts and in the many well-deserved accolades they have received; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Waco Euterpean Club on its |
|
|
success at the Texas Federation of Music Clubs centennial |
|
|
celebration and extend to the club sincere best wishes for the |
|
|
future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Waco Euterpean as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
