R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their
  memories of longtime Buda resident Gerald L. Bollinger, who died
  on January 1, 2015, at the age of 84; and
         WHEREAS, Gerald Bollinger was born in Chester, Illinois, on
  May 6, 1930, to Floyd and Marie Bollinger; answering his nation's
  call to duty, he served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean
  War, earning two Bronze Stars and other decorations; and
         WHEREAS, After completing his service, Mr. Bollinger was a
  civil servant for the federal government; he lived in Salinas,
  California, for 20 years until his retirement in 1986, when he moved
  to Buda, Texas, where he enjoyed the friendship of many before
  returning to Salinas in 2012; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Bollinger was a volunteer with the Civil Air
  Patrol for more than three decades, and he rose to the rank of
  lieutenant colonel; he led and took part in many search and rescue
  missions, and he was responsible for finding nine individuals and
  saving the lives of five; and
         WHEREAS, Gerald Bollinger lived a rich and purposeful life,
  and he leaves behind a record of patriotism and service to others
  that will continue to inspire all those who knew and loved him; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Gerald L. Bollinger
  and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
  life partner, Donna E. Jaranilla; to his daughters, June
  M. Stanfield and Joyce L. Ponton; to his son, Jay P. Bollinger; to
  his brothers, Lyle Bollinger and Jean Bollinger; to his nine
  grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, four nephews, and two
  nieces; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Gerald
  L. Bollinger.
