R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their |
|
|
memories of longtime Buda resident Gerald L. Bollinger, who died |
|
|
on January 1, 2015, at the age of 84; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Gerald Bollinger was born in Chester, Illinois, on |
|
|
May 6, 1930, to Floyd and Marie Bollinger; answering his nation's |
|
|
call to duty, he served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean |
|
|
War, earning two Bronze Stars and other decorations; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, After completing his service, Mr. Bollinger was a |
|
|
civil servant for the federal government; he lived in Salinas, |
|
|
California, for 20 years until his retirement in 1986, when he moved |
|
|
to Buda, Texas, where he enjoyed the friendship of many before |
|
|
returning to Salinas in 2012; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Bollinger was a volunteer with the Civil Air |
|
|
Patrol for more than three decades, and he rose to the rank of |
|
|
lieutenant colonel; he led and took part in many search and rescue |
|
|
missions, and he was responsible for finding nine individuals and |
|
|
saving the lives of five; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Gerald Bollinger lived a rich and purposeful life, |
|
|
and he leaves behind a record of patriotism and service to others |
|
|
that will continue to inspire all those who knew and loved him; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Gerald L. Bollinger |
|
|
and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his |
|
|
life partner, Donna E. Jaranilla; to his daughters, June |
|
|
M. Stanfield and Joyce L. Ponton; to his son, Jay P. Bollinger; to |
|
|
his brothers, Lyle Bollinger and Jean Bollinger; to his nine |
|
|
grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, four nephews, and two |
|
|
nieces; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Gerald |
|
|
L. Bollinger. |
