R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Members of the Kirbyville High School University Interscholastic League academic teams distinguished themselves with their performance at the District 23-3A academic meet on March 24 and 26, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Competing against other top squads in a variety of subjects, Kirbyville High placed fifth overall in the district, with a number of teams and individuals excelling in their chosen events; and

WHEREAS, The mathematics team, composed of Jarrod Brooks, Bradley Bush, Brian Lai, and Meghan Moel, captured first place; the accounting team, which included Mr. Brooks, Jonathan Lancaster, Dennis Leh, and Trenton Slaughter, took second place; members of the number sense team, Mr. Bush, Carla Calzada, Mr. Lai, and Mr. Leh, placed third; and

WHEREAS, The calculator applications team, which included Mr. Bush, Mr. Lai, Ms. Moel, and Mr. Lancaster, placed third; in the feature writing event, Jenny Guzman took third place with a strong individual showing; and

WHEREAS, A number of students qualified for the UIL regional academic meet, including Mr. Brooks, Mr. Bush, Mr. Lai, Ms. Guzman, Carleigh Davis, Dominique Leh, Ms. Moel, and Lauren Dameron; and

WHEREAS, With their efforts at the District 23-3A academic meet, the students from Kirbyville High have proudly represented their school, and the dedication they have demonstrated is sure to serve them well in the years ahead; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the students from Kirbyville High School on their success at the 2015 UIL District 23-3A academic meet and extend to them sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the students as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
