R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to |
|
a close with the passing of Mayde Elizabeth McGinty of Caldwell |
|
County on April 23, 2015, while she was visiting Ireland, the home |
|
of her ancestors; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Crockett on March 26, 1940, Liz McGinty |
|
graduated from Texas Christian University and taught physical |
|
education in the Austin Independent School District before her |
|
retirement; she lived in Caldwell County for more than three |
|
decades, and she was a tireless advocate for women, children, |
|
education, the arts, and the environment; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. McGinty was very active in the Caldwell County |
|
Democratic Party, and she served as a precinct chair and election |
|
judge; in addition, she was president of the Texas Democratic Women |
|
of Caldwell County for 2013 and 2014, and she was serving as the |
|
vice president of the Caldwell County Tejano Democrats; and |
|
WHEREAS, A valued member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, |
|
Ms. McGinty became a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity through her |
|
church involvement, and she served on the team that constructed |
|
Habitat's first home in Caldwell County; and |
|
WHEREAS, Liz McGinty touched many lives through her activism |
|
and volunteer work, and she will forever hold a special place in the |
|
hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her; now, therefore, |
|
be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Mayde Elizabeth |
|
McGinty and extend sincere condolences to her loved ones; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Liz |
|
McGinty. |
