R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Those Texans who give freely of their time and
  talents to benefit their fellow citizens make the world a better
  place through their actions and their example, and Richard Knight
  Jr. of Dallas is being recognized for his exceptional community
  service by being named a recipient of a 2015 Profiles in Leadership
  Award; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Knight holds a bachelor's degree from Fort
  Valley State University and a master's degree in public
  administration from the University of North Carolina; a respected
  business leader in the North Texas area, he is the cofounder and
  chair of Pegasus Texas Construction; he previously served his
  fellow citizens as Dallas city manager from 1986 to 1990,
  overseeing a number of important capital projects and
  infrastructure improvements during his tenure; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan has further contributed to his
  community as a member of the University of North Texas Board of
  Regents and as a board member for the Dallas Citizens Council, the
  Boy Scouts of America, and the Dallas-Fort Worth Minority Business
  Development Council; Mr. Knight is also the current chair of North
  Texas Public Broadcasting, the Children's Medical Center of Dallas,
  and the Salesmanship Club of Dallas; moreover, he is being
  recognized in June 2015 for his notable civic accomplishments by
  the African American Museum of Dallas with the organization's
  prestigious Heritage Award; and
         WHEREAS, The strength and unity of our cities are enhanced by
  the devoted efforts of individuals such as Richard Knight, whose
  tireless work has contributed immeasurably to the quality of life
  in Dallas; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Richard Knight Jr. on his receipt
  of a 2015 Profiles in Leadership Award and commend him on his
  exemplary record of civic engagement; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Knight as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
