R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Those Texans who give freely of their time and |
|
talents to benefit their fellow citizens make the world a better |
|
place through their actions and their example, and Richard Knight |
|
Jr. of Dallas is being recognized for his exceptional community |
|
service by being named a recipient of a 2015 Profiles in Leadership |
|
Award; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Knight holds a bachelor's degree from Fort |
|
Valley State University and a master's degree in public |
|
administration from the University of North Carolina; a respected |
|
business leader in the North Texas area, he is the cofounder and |
|
chair of Pegasus Texas Construction; he previously served his |
|
fellow citizens as Dallas city manager from 1986 to 1990, |
|
overseeing a number of important capital projects and |
|
infrastructure improvements during his tenure; and |
|
WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan has further contributed to his |
|
community as a member of the University of North Texas Board of |
|
Regents and as a board member for the Dallas Citizens Council, the |
|
Boy Scouts of America, and the Dallas-Fort Worth Minority Business |
|
Development Council; Mr. Knight is also the current chair of North |
|
Texas Public Broadcasting, the Children's Medical Center of Dallas, |
|
and the Salesmanship Club of Dallas; moreover, he is being |
|
recognized in June 2015 for his notable civic accomplishments by |
|
the African American Museum of Dallas with the organization's |
|
prestigious Heritage Award; and |
|
WHEREAS, The strength and unity of our cities are enhanced by |
|
the devoted efforts of individuals such as Richard Knight, whose |
|
tireless work has contributed immeasurably to the quality of life |
|
in Dallas; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Richard Knight Jr. on his receipt |
|
of a 2015 Profiles in Leadership Award and commend him on his |
|
exemplary record of civic engagement; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Knight as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
