R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Those Texans who give freely of their time and
  talents to benefit their fellow citizens make the world a better
  place through their actions and their example, and Regina Montoya
  of Dallas is being recognized for her exceptional community service
  by being named a recipient of a 2015 Profiles in Leadership Award;
  and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Montoya is co-chair of Dallas Mayor Mike
  Rawlings's Task Force on Poverty as well as a member of the
  Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport board of directors; a
  longtime leader in the nonprofit community, she has also served on
  the boards of Girls Inc., the Texas Book Festival, Texas Health
  Presbyterian Hospital Dallas, ChildCareGroup, the Texas Business
  Hall of Fame, the Retina Foundation of the Southwest, and the Dallas
  Friday Group; her many honors include the Dallas Minority Business
  Leader Award from the Dallas Business Journal, the Real Woman Award
  from the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas, the Lifetime Achievement
  Award from the Texas Minority Counsel Program of the State Bar of
  Texas, and the Pioneer for Justice Award from the Mexican American
  Bar Foundation; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of Harvard Law School, Ms. Montoya was
  among the first Latinas to earn partnership in a major American
  corporate law firm; she served in the White House in 1993 as an
  assistant to President Bill Clinton and as director of the Office of
  Intergovernmental Affairs, and in 1998, she was nominated by the
  president to serve as a representative to the United Nations
  General Assembly; from 2005 to 2008, she was the chief executive
  officer of the New America Alliance, and from 2009 to 2014, she was
  senior vice president for external relations and general counsel
  for the Children's Medical Center of Dallas; and
         WHEREAS, The strength and unity of our communities are
  enhanced by the devoted efforts of individuals such as Regina
  Montoya, whose tireless work has contributed immeasurably to the
  quality of life in Dallas; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Regina Montoya on her receipt of a
  2015 Profiles in Leadership Award and commend her on her exemplary
  record of civic engagement; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Montoya as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
