R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Those Texans who give freely of their time and
  talents to benefit their fellow citizens make the world a better
  place through their actions and their example, and Pete Schenkel of
  Dallas is being recognized for his exceptional community service by
  being named a recipient of a 2015 Profiles in Leadership Award; and
         WHEREAS, A longtime civic and business leader, Mr. Schenkel
  is the former vice chair of the board for Dean Foods and has served
  as a member or chair of numerous other boards and organizations; he
  currently holds membership on the boards of Grand Bank, the
  Methodist Health System and its fund-raising arm, and the Dallas
  Blue Foundation, a nonprofit that provides financial assistance to
  the families of wounded or fallen police officers; in addition, he
  is a member of the executive committee of the State Fair of Texas
  board, and in recognition of his involvement in South Dallas, the
  state fair's scholarship program is named in his honor; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Schenkel is committed to sharing the rewards of
  his labors and has focused especially on addressing health and
  education issues faced by those less fortunate; he and his wife,
  Pat, are generous benefactors of Dallas Methodist Hospital, where
  their gifts helped to fund a new trauma center in the city's
  southern sector; they have also supported Meals on Wheels, the
  Visiting Nurse Association, New Friends New Life, and Arms of Hope
  children's homes, and they are the recipients of the first ever
  Norman Brinker Humanitarian Award from Wipe Out Kids' Cancer in
  honor of their charitable endeavors; and
         WHEREAS, The strength and unity of our cities are enhanced by
  the devoted efforts of individuals such as Pete Schenkel, whose
  tireless work has contributed immeasurably to the quality of life
  in Dallas; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Pete Schenkel on his receipt of a
  2015 Profiles in Leadership Award and commend him on his exemplary
  record of civic engagement; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Schenkel as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
