R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, No words can diminish the pain caused by a life cut
  short, but all who shared in the love and friendship of Hillary
  Frances Corgey may find comfort in their treasured memories of this
  special young woman, who passed away on January 22, 2015, at the age
  of 27; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Houston on March 19, 1987, Ms. Corgey
  attended the University of Houston; she worked at the Houston SPCA
  and wrote articles for the UH newspaper, The Cougar, on a wide
  variety of issues, from health awareness to tuition increases;
  while completing her bachelor's degree in political science and
  government, she served as a campaign volunteer for Texas State
  Representative Armando Walle, and she later became a constituent
  services intern in his Houston office; she went on to earn a
  master's degree in political science and government from Texas
  State University; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Corgey suffered from asthma, which was
  aggravated by urban pollution, and she became deeply committed to
  improving the health of the environment; in the summer of 2012, she
  joined the Texas office of Public Citizen in Austin as an intern,
  and her outstanding research skills proved especially valuable to
  the organization, which eventually hired her as a full-time staff
  member; she worked tirelessly as an advocate for environmental
  justice, giving testimony at hearings and speaking to groups about
  the effects of poor air quality; in addition, she analyzed data,
  wrote reports and successful grants, and drafted legislation, among
  other contributions; and
         WHEREAS, Hillary Corgey devoted herself to making a positive
  difference in the world around her, and her compassion and
  determination will remain a source of tremendous inspiration to all
  who knew her; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Hillary Frances
  Corgey and extend sincere condolences to her parents, Toni and
  David Nichols; to her grandfather, Leldon James Corgey Sr.; and to
  her other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Hillary
  Corgey.
